I’ve fallen into the Kanji trap

Basically, i’ve based all my studies so far on understanding written Japanese, so Kanji.
This has resulted in me learning Kanji but not understanding any context in sentences because i didn’t understand words in the right context. Any tips or resources to get some more speaking oriented studies done?

  1. Your situation is kinda perfect now. You have the kanji, so you only need to watch YouTube or movies (anime is not recommended) to see them in real action.

  2. It’s not clear what your problem is. Does ‘understanding written Japanese’ = ‘reading Japanese’? If so, you must understand context in order to be able to read properly. Is it grammar you’re lacking, or maybe you don’t feel you have enough vocabulary?

Or are you saying that you’ve only learned kanji and not any vocab or grammar?

  3. If you’re asking what I think you’re asking, you mean to say that you understand vocabulary but not any grammar application. For that, I would recommend BunPro. It’s a basic SRS grammar site, subscription based but they give a free trial to see if it works for you. Not saying it will but in general, seems like it’s time for you to learn some grammar, ともだち。
