My work is seasonal, so I have several months per year without much going on during weekdays (during the day). I live in Tokyo and am looking to be more social during the week. Completely understanding that most normal people work weekdays, does anyone have ideas of ways to be social during the day Monday through Friday? I’m in my 30s and would love to meet people in that same age realm. Obviously, I would have plenty of chances to meet all the retirees, but are there places to meet others in their 20s-40s?

How about volunteer organisations ?
Perhaps playing games like Destiny, Division, Red Dead online etc….
Might not be in Japan but should be able to meet people online.
Met some awesome people and talked for hours this way.
Same situation here. Where in Tokyo?
I have a tight group, but I only know people through friends-of-friends-of-friends. I have no idea how strangers meet.
Find a hobby you’ve always wanted to take up and dip your toes into it.
People in their 30’s are going to be at work; taking care of their kids; or possibly in grad school.
If you want to meet them, do the same. Get a part-time job; bring your kid to the park or to playdates; take some university courses.
before covid and having kids I used to do BJJ pretty fun, good range of people of all ages. Mostly japanese but sometime you get to meet foreigners that are travelling and want to roll.
Karaoke bar works a lot !
But the thing is when you sing with people, you talk with them and they give you their line/Instagram etc.. to keep contact most of the time you can’t see them anymore 😅
In Tokyo there’s a bar that has been opened by a french guy “bonjour Tokyo bar” I’m sure you’ll find people to talk with ^^ or there’s always an event to create connexions^^
Go hiking!
