Buying and selling a bike for a month.

My friend is coming to visit me here and is staying for a month. I live in the suburbs and bike is the best way to get to the station and around the city.

I want to buy him a bike and then sell it afterwards. Will this be an arduous process? As I know you usually have to register a bike.

  1. You will lose money. Most shops that will buy used bike will only give you around 20 percent of its value. You can try selling online yourself but will take days/weeks/months and maybe you can make 50 percent its value.

    Why not rental bikes?

  2. But a cheap secondhand one from a shop, or better yet a cheaper or even free one from sayonara sales.

  3. Don’t buy from a shop. Get one second hand from Jimoty and sell it in the same way.
Another way to get one is if you know your local bike disposal center. That’s where they take bikes that have been impounded and unclaimed, and they’re sold dirt cheap. Try searching for the term silver jinzai for this and they typically hold sales at certain days of the month.
