Hi folks, I just got an offer from a global tech Japanese company to work in Japan (the HQ is in Tokyo but I can work remotely from any corner of the country).
My background:
8 years in the semiconductors industry working as a chip designer. With a professional master degree. Living in the Netherlands (coming from an emerging country).
The offer:
The role is for a Senior chip designer, Permanent contract, ¥12m of base salary (annual), ¥1m of bonus, $20k in stocks (RSU), €9k for relocation, Rent payed by the company until I find my place, 14 vacation days, 60 sick leave days, Flight ticket to Japan, some other small perks.
Some yellow flags for me:
40h of overtime monthly (only if requested/needed), probationary period of 6 months (can be extended to 9).
So what do you think guys?

That sounds fairly standard to be honest. The constant change of currency units melted my brain a bit though.
the 40h of overtime monthly is a standard part of contracts here, better than in the US where if you make enough money you are just considered salaried and aren’t paid overtime at all.
