  1. Took me a minute to realize they have more or less heads depending on what character they represent haha well done

  2. This.. this meme is on point lol I’m still in my basics of hiragana but I’ve heard tails of the ultimate confusion of this ha

  3. I like how ノ is pointing at NO one.

These definitely used to confuse me but trust me it gets so much easier when you practice it enough. Just learn the correct stroke order from the first time and it’ll get stuck with you.

My first Japanese teacher actually laughed when we pointed out to her that we remember シ as resembling a person smiling. She never saw it that way which is interesting. And then she was confused as well as to why we couldn’t see the difference between シ and ツ. Honestly it’s much clearer when you write it by hand though, the computer font makes them unnecessarily close. ツ (tsu)’s short lines are vertical and from up to down, right to left. シ (shi)’s are horizontal, and the longer line is from down to up. No better way to remember it than engrave it in your muscle memory.

  4. Honestly didn’t think about this too hard until this post. Now I have forgot all japanese

  5. シ – She has a weird face

    ツ – Happy little tsunami

    ソ – Pointing South

    ン – Has a North Line
