I am fairly new to learning Japanese and in a textbook (Japanese from Zero 1) I learned that there are cases when it is acceptable to start a sentence with a question word.
Like this: だれが田中さんですか。
Whatever the reason, I couldn’t understand it in the book’s wordings. So i’d appreciate a clear answer on when it is acceptable to start a sentence with a question word. Thank you:)

What do you mean a question word?
Do you mean things like それは何ですか？vs 何それ？
