  1. I had this sauce while visiting Japan, I think it was at a hanamaru udon. Anyway, it was great! It kind of reminded me of worcestershire sauce and it was excellent on tempura.

I’ve been trying to replicate it for a couple years but I’ve never even gotten close. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

  2. ウスターソース/ Worcestershire sauce or 中濃ソース/ thickened Worcestershire sauce or Tonkatsu sauce? Or the restaurant’s special sauce?

  3. As others have mentioned it simply says “sōsu” which means sauce in Japanese. When used without another word to qualify it, it generally refers to chūnou sauce(literally medium thickness sauce). It’s the default sauce Japanese people put on everything. It’s thicker than Worcester sauce and thinner than tonkatsu sauce.

  4. I assume you saw this in a restaurant. When Japanese people say sauce, it’s usually referred to as Tonkatsu sauce.

  5. Try bulldog sauce. In English they translate it as a ‘fruit and vegetable’ sauce but it’s pretty much what you have in your pic
