Has anybody here tried the pick up service of Japan Post for sending an EMS package? I need help on info about the service.

My sis always asks a favor every Christmas season to buy Royce chocolates (the house chocolate and Christmas only ones) and send it to her in the US and I always use EMS. Last year, the box was so big, I can’t possibly carry it myself all the way to the post office so I had to hire an Uber driver. This time though she wants me to order even more than last year so I bet the box is going to be bigger.

I just found out there’s a pick up service from Japan Post and it includes EMS. But I still have no idea how it works. Does the driver measure the weight and all and give me the delivery price and I pay him? Or does the service only deliver the package to the desired post office and I have to go there myself and complete the transaction?

  1. They will weigh it and take payment for you, no need to go to the post office for that. The only thing I’m not sure about is labeling (since you need the printed label). Usually I go to the post office and print it myself, but I’m not sure if they can do that part too.
