I’ve been working on my Japanese for a few weeks now, and I’ve made some pretty good progress. I’m not N5 yet, but I know around 200 words and can form/under basic sentences. I keep on being told to “just read,” so I’m trying to find a game to play in order to get some reading experience. My criteria are:
* Aimed at young children, around elementary school level.
* Ideally have kanji with furigana. Not having furigana is fine, but at long as there’s still some kanji. I’m not a fan of reading only kana.
* Have at least a reasonable amount of dialogue, so no games where there isn’t much reading.
* Be good.
This isn’t a requirement, but it would be great if the game was for a Nintendo handheld. Thanks in advance!

Animal Crossing for switch
I will be that guy and say you need to crack down harder on your overall level first. 200 words is nothing to enjoy any type of media.
When I finally sat down and cranked through vocab, then studied grammar, it became much more fun, even though the boring textbook stuff wasnt at first.
Your brain and energy will be spent looking things up all the time, which will then be a less effective form of just memorizing words anyway. Get that ball rolling to N4 first. Until then, graded readers are a good break from the monotonous textbooks.
