“National Travel Discount” applies to children too?

I was looking to book a hotel using the “National Travel Discount” scheme, and saw it mentioned “children staying in the room are also eligible” for the 5000y discount and 3000y coupon.

But I can’t find any specific information/details about it.

If I book a room for my family (me, wife, 2 kids) only my wife and I are charged, the kids are free because they’re under school age.

Can anyone confirm that they’d still be eligible for the discount and that we’d potentially get 20k off the hotel price?

  1. It’s “up to” I believe and yeah it’s managed by the prefecture. The one I went to, kids aren’t counted if they aren’t charged.

  2. Also depends on how the hotel charges for children. If they have their own bed they will have to pay for it and as long as the prefecture you’re travelling to applies the same understanding, yes you should receive the vouchers.

The best advice would just be to call the hotel directly and ask them.
