Hello, I have a 10 hour layover in Tokyo for an upcoming trip to Vietnam from the US. I arrive at Haneda 06:50 AM and depart from Haneda 04:25 PM on Dec 12th. From what I can find online, that should be more than enough time to head into Tokyo, do some shopping, grab lunch, and head back around noon to catch my flight home. However, I could not find any *recent* info on this type of itinerary now that Japan has reopened to tourist. Does this seem feasible? I am fully vaccinated and this will not be my first time in Tokyo.
I am also going to call Japan Airlines and try to shift my connecting flight over a day to be able to spend the night in Tokyo instead of just 10 hours, but if it cost too much or is not possible, I’ll just stick to my original plan. Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere but I couldn’t find any post about this since reopen. Thanks!

As long as you meet Japan’s entry requirements, you will be fine. Consider whether you need a visa or not to enter Japan.

You need to make an account with the government for entry, and “fully vaccinated” is 3 shots or a negative PCR test.
Definitely doable, I had a 7 hours layover and I was able to visit near Shibuya for dinner and plenty of time to walk around. Took me less than 10mins to get through custom with fasttrack.
This is doable, but you’ll feel rushed and definitely wish you were staying longer. Take a taxi (30 mins from Haneda to Shibuya or Shinjuku) to save you time.
Customs took me 1.5 hours 4 days ago.
They just switched to digital early Nov and it’s chaotic. Just plan for it!
