  1. Apparently, activities from Japan equals the US, eventhough we have much less population.

I predict it will end up like yahoo.co.jp, services that Japan use and refuse to unuse.

  2. >”Twitter may look US-centric, but it’s more Japan-centric,” Twitter CEO Elon Musk said at an all-hands meeting. This is reported by The Verge, which obtained a recording of the meeting. Musk also said the company would set up engineering teams in Japan and India.

    >Musk said at the conference that mass layoffs have been completed and he is now hiring new positions in engineering and sales.

    >He said a large portion of the technology department would have to be rebuilt from scratch, and that it would set up engineering teams in Japan, India, Indonesia and Brazil.

  3. Salaries are piss poor here. Smart move by Elon. Get the same highly talented people for half the price.

  4. Lots of Japanese are active Twitter users. Wonder if there is any local SNS that actually could compete potentially.

A typical Japanese comment would be like “sorry for commenting though not a followers”…a whole different level of politeness.

  5. IMO Twitter is big in Japan because you could say A LOT with 140 characters, whereas in English you basically couldn’t say anything worth saying.

  6. Software Engineer in Tokyo for 9y+. It is virtually impossible to recruit good new grads here. Mass recruiting engs here means having extremely low standards and require a lot of tech middle managers and project leads because all these low quality engs need a lot of micro directions.
