N2 prep book to read in bed?

Hi, can someone recommend any N2 prep books to casually read before bed? I usually use satori reader for reading practice but since I’m trying to reduce screen time before bed to get better sleep I’m craving a physical book.

Something more structured to be JLPT prep yet not a full-on textbook either. I’m busy working full time and not in a particular time crunch to take the N2 or anything, so I usually just “study” by doing lots of reading and Anki, but I do want to have a book I feel like I can get a grasp on my progress from.

I already have some physical manga but they’re a bit too easy, and LNs too but I can’t read them without looking something up in a dictionary every sentence, which feels like a chore before bed, so a book that has a vocab list for every passage would be nice.

So far I came across Sou Matome, is that a good one? It seems like it and lots of other series are split into grammar, vocab, kanji, etc., though. If possible I’d like an all-in-one but after recently more or less finishing heisig, my focus is definitely expanding my vocabulary now that I can identify kanji meanings.

Thank you in advance!

  1. so like something harder than a manga but easier than a LN

how about either A) a harder manga or B) an easier LN

the KADOKAWA books I read are fairly easy, too easy for N2 probably but if you wanna read before bed without a dictionary it might be just exactly right

  2. How about a Kadokawa Tsubasa Bunko (角川つばさ文庫) book? Maybe Penguin Highway (ペンギン・ハイウェイ)?
