I’m not sure if this is the right place to post, but my grandmother is Japanese and my family has been trying to figure out how she can read Japanese e books on a Kindle or other device. We are not sure if she can go through Amazon Japan as they don’t deliver kindles outside of Japan, or if she can get an American version but get the Japanese kindle store on it? I’ve searched reddit and the internet and I haven’t come up with any definite options. Kobo rakuten was mentioned but I’m not sure how that works. Does anyone have any ideas or know how this is possible? TIA!
Edit: I know there are some Japanese books on American Kindle store but looking for more than this

It’s really hard to buy Japanese e books outside Japan. If you can get a Japanese Amazon account and borrow an address in Japan, you can usually make it work. Sometimes non Japanese credit cards have problems though. Honto lets you register with just an email address and doesn’t care about overseas credit cards but you have to read in browser or by a sideloaded android app (ios doesn’t work).
