There are the equivalent of magnet schools you can go to. My wife, for example, went to a high school that catered to students that wanted to really learn English.
The public schools (at least in elementary, since that’s what we have experience with) don’t do anything really… there aren’t separate classes or enrichment groups or anything like that. When I enrolled my daughter we said that she was in gifted classes in the US and they were basically like “oh great, she’s smart and she’ll learn quickly!” and that’s it. Lol. There also isn’t much for kids with learning disabilities, etc… there’s usually one class for kids with various disabilities that need more focused attention, but kids who are able to blend into a typical class basically get thrown into the mix with no additional supports or anything… it’s all kind of sink or swim, I guess.
Depends if the people who were gifted them want them or not.
So I just woke up. Was genuinely concerned that people would give away their children as a gift. “This is taking omiyage to new heights.”

Pretty sure they are fast tracked to become famous detectives.
Anecdotal, but based on what I’ve been told it is extremely uncommon (or perhaps impossible) to skip grades in school.
Some public schools just have a separate classroom that the students spend all day in like any other student does. Some students go to the main classrooms for specific lessons with a handler of sorts helping out beside them, but in general they’re just isolated for most of the day.

Not sure what kind of answer you’re looking for here, but that’s my experience in one small part of it. I’ve heard they don’t do a whole much more than that though.
