Buying large appliances online

Hey guys, just moved in this week so I’m buying appliances for the apartment. And since it’s black friday, I’m seeing some good deals in Rakuten, but their installation fee is confusing and way too high (4000-7000 yen for simple stuff like a fridge or a washing machine) so I’ll just do it myself.

My problem is, the apartment building is small, only 2 stories high and I’m on the 2nd floor, so there’s no elevator. So I was wondering if delivery companies here would deliver it to my doorstep (up the stairs) since I have no way of taking a whole fridge or washing machine upstairs by myself. As long as they’re at my door, I can just unpack and install them myself. Thank you!

  1. I remember Amazon delivered to my 2nd floor apartment and installed for free or really cheap, like 1000 yen.

They also disposed of the boxes for me.

  2. I bought a fridge, washing machine and TV on Amazon and the installation fee per item was only ¥110! I live in a detached house so I’m not sure if being on the second floor makes a difference, but I don’t think it would be much higher. So see if you can find what you’re looking for on Amazon, no point trying to do it yourself when it’s this cheap.

  3. The “delivery fee” is their way of recouping the “black friday sale”.

Don’t trust Japanese online “black friday” sales at all. One year I waited months for Amazon’s black friday sale to buy a washing machine, scanning prices in the run up to see the savings. It was actually MORE expensive on black friday, despite being apparently discounted. Follow [kakaku.com](https://kakaku.com) to find the best deals.

  4. buy used, from other people moving out. way better deals for a few years old technology, for items that hardly break

  5. Got mine from Amazon, they delivered on the second floor, I installed it myself. But don’t forget for the fridge, you need to let it sit for a day or 2 before using, putting the cable. I believe it was related to the gas/liquid inside of the fridge which might be moved through delivery etc. ( I might be wrong but please check if there is anything specific for the fridge installation ) good luck 🤞

  6. Sign up for an Amazon Prime account.
Do the entry for the campaign points.
    Order stuff from your smartphone.
    Order on Black Friday

You’ll get 2.5% back on top of the discounts

  7. I paid 3000 yen for them to walk up two flights of stairs to my apartment on the third floor for my fridge and washing machine. I used an online store for used appliances though.
