Extra item from Amazon Japan

I ordered an item for about 15k yen and was sent two of the same item. I want to return the extra item but my Japanese is trash and I can’t read well either. I’ve never sent mail or packages within Japan and I’m honestly intimidated by the thought of going through this process. Explaining what happened and then trying to ship this thing back seems pretty daunting to me. My anxiety is already pretty high. Someone please tell me that it’s really not that bad. I’m learning Japanese but I’m not very good yet.

  1. > Step1: Double check you didn’t charged twice.

    > Step2: contact Amazon customer service via chat. They are connecting you an English speaking agent. Explain the situation and tell them you want to return it;

    > Step3: they will either tell you to keep the item or they will explain you how to return it.

    That’s all 🙂

  2. Amazon can be accessed in English if you haven’t used it that way. Process your returns through the Returns & Orders page, explaining the situation in English is perfectly fine. Then, package it and put the return address as per the instructions provided by amazon. Go to the post office and say “Kore okurimasu.” That’s it really… It’s not that bad. It’s just sending packages, postal workers know what you want to do with it once you arrive on the counter. Good luck!

  3. Damn, why this never happens to me XD

    jk, jk…

    I think Amazon will likely tell you to keep the product.
    I once read on the news that someone ordered something and they received a huge TV and when they contacted amazon, they told to keep it.

  4. Just keep it. If you weren’t charged twice, it’s their mistake and they’re not going to go into dispute with a customer over that.

  5. Contact them via chat. Most of the times them connect you to agents with South Asian names and they speak English.

  6. It can be sent back as “cash on delivery” with Kuroneko Yamato, to the same address of as returns. The term in Japanese for “cash on delivery” is “chakubarai”.You may need help doing it, but you won’t have to pay to ship it back at least. Contact the customer service in English, via chat rather than phone call and confirm the address to use.
