Idk if it’s a good place to type it, it is quite emotional to me how I ruined my life. I planned to live in Japan since 2016, I’ve been learning Japanese a lot, and that’s why I passed my N2 exam and went forward to learning for N1 then. The Japanese language was never a problem to me, but things changed in my life and made me fail high school, I didn’t pass the last year of it. I can’t call myself lazy or something, but I went into a depression and switched to learning at home with my parents. I try to recover from past bad times but still I feel so sad that I missed the opportunity to at least try to achieve my dream. Is living in Japan still achievable for a person like me? (Sorry for my English, I know it might be not that good). I don’t want to talk about the details of my life too much, but just want to know the answer that bothers me.

In order to work in Japan you need a bachelor’s degree, or similar, or 10 years of experience in the field you wish to work.
There should still be alternative ways to get a high school degree. Your passion appears to be language so after that you could get a language degree.
Bare minimum is your GED. No reason you can’t pass that.
If you want to go to a university in Japan, don’t forget to check the university websites. They list what degrees they recognize.
It is NEVER too late to achieve your dreams, most people challenge to live in a different country is usually money, worrying about failing your last year of high school is something rare tbh, it’s not the end of the world, you can try again and do it better, you still have so much time don’t stress yourself trying to do everything in a hurry, enjoy the journey.
N2 is awesome. Congrats. Try to finish high school, if not get your GED. It’s still possible to live and work here without it but will be harder and might hurt you down the road.
You could marry a Japanese and get a spouse visa. But without a degree career prospects are limited.
Be cool, stay in school.
Even with N1 you’re gonna need a Bachelor’s degree to get a visa.
Either that, or try to marry a native.
