Dry Erase Board As A Tool to Practice writing and memorizing Kanji

Hey guys, the office supply store I work at had a dry erase board on clearance for about 3.50, and I picked it up. I’m thinking using a dry erase board would be really helpful in practicing writing and memorizing kanji and kana but was curious as to what you folks think.

  1. I like those toys that allow kids to write and then erase by shaking like an etchisketch but with a pen-like writing tool. The dry erase board markers are going to add to costs over time.

  2. I like pencil and paper for the friction feedback.

Some of those dry erase markers make me feel a bit ill after some time too.

  3. I used to have a dry erase board in my office. It was how i learned hiragana fast. I’d write out the grid and fill in the blanks. Been thinking of getting one for home for kanji.

  4. I just use a calligraphy practice book. Having the set sized boxes helps me keep the shapes. I also like to use “Water Calligraphy Paper” with a real brush and water.

  5. If you live where Daiso stores are (Japanese version of Dollar Store), they usually have those items (boards and markers) pretty cheap. And yes, I find it helpful for me to memorize the characters.
