Is 名生 the same as in “Nao o kaishitekudasai” (Return [my] name please!) and why use “nao” instead of “namae”?

I’m watching Natsume and the Book of Friends. In it, Natsume is returning names to the Yokai to free them from the bonds of the book that the holder can use to summon and command them. I’m assuming there’s a lot of old Japanese grammar in play. I’m curious about the use of “nao” instead of “namae” though.
