Getting Ready for Language School

I’ll be moving to Osaka this next year, and hopefully starting full time language school in April. We’re planning to attend the YMCA Language School. ([https://www.osakaymca.ac.jp/nihongo/](https://www.osakaymca.ac.jp/nihongo/))

I’ve studied Japanese off and on over the past years, and I want to enter at a higher level so I’ve taken many lessons on italki to fill in the gaps in my understanding. I am fairly confident I could pass the JLPT N4, but I haven’t practiced writing much at all.

Other than firming up my base, is there any other advice you could give? Extra points if you have any experience with the YMCA School!

I’m also particularly interested in the dynamic of how learning Japanese in a language school helps or hinders on the road to fluency.

  1. Some schools want you to be proficient in at least writing hiragana+katakana if you haven’t leaned how to write them yet, I suggest you start learning now
