Travel Advice

Hi everyone,

me and my gf will be going on a trip from Jan-2-5.

We will be driving from north Saitama with our final destination in Kanazawa

We will make a stop at Nagano (Gifu/Toyama will be available too) and check out what’s there.

Jan 2: Leave Saitama, drive up to Nagano. Matsumoto Castle, Lunch, Monkey Park and dinner and call it a night. Check in and sleep.

Jan 3: Continue drive up from Nagano to Kanazawa. Arrive, Food, Walk around, Kenryokuen Garden, Kanazawa Castle, Food, Good night

Jan 4: Drive to Hakusan Park and prob spend the whole day there, return to Kanazawa and sleep.

Jan 5: Back to Saitama from Kanazawa (Hopefully stop in Toyama along the way)

Now I have some questions

1) How’s the weather/road conditions during that time?
2) Do u think its okay even with snow tires?
3) Is it possible to go without snow tires?

  1. January 2nd: Unless you plan to start driving at some ungodly hour (5:30am-ish) or are located in Kumagaya – it’s undoable.

It can be anything from clear roads to six feet of snow dumped in last 48 hours,

    > Is it possible to go without snow tires

Unless, the weather is radically unseasonal (like 15°C in Kanazawa) – absolutely no, especially considering Hakusan.
