Former company won’t send the 源泉徴収票

Hello. I’ve repeatedly called, emailed and even dropped by my former company to get the 源泉徴収票 (gensenchoshuhyou) for tax purposes, but they just keep saying they’ll send it eventually. It’s been over two months and I’m pretty certain they have no intention of sending it. What can I do?

  1. If you think they will withold it, you can submit the appropriate form to the NTA, and they will kindly encourage your company to produce it..

Companies are required to provide it within 1 month of your departure date.

(That said, it is anecdotally not uncommon for companies to issue it to former employees at the same time they issue it to all other employess, i.e. end-of-year)

  2. The only thing you need to do is just tell your company that you are going to submit the “Notification of non-issuance of 源泉徴収票”, or「源泉徴収票不交付届」to your nearest Tax office. Since every company doesn’t want to be punished from the government offices, they will give it to you soon.
