I have a friend who doesn’t watch wrestling but is interested in how such a weird industry came to exist. I showed him the KENTA turn clip and thought his reaction was funny

1. I personally like both styles but that’s 100% correct haha. The best surprises are the ones that actually surprise and not “let’s play music for a bit then take our time getting out there while the rival looks like a dole standing around and waiting for something to happen”

2. My most annoying wrestling trope: a group of heels are beating up a solitary face; music for another face hits; they stop what they’re doing, and turn in unison to wait patiently while watching the calvary arrive, instead of rushing to intercept him, or keep their focus on their original target. They still have the numbers advantage, they can’t divide their attention?

3. Also, New Japan thankfully avoids this, but in American promotions, a wrestler wins, his music hits and the ring announcer begins to announce the results. But the brawl continues, and the music gets killed and the announcer quickly shuts up. Why? How does what is happening in the ring in any way affects his or the people in the sound rooms ability to do their jobs?

4. Just give him time lmao. He’ll find out how many run ins from the darkness there are in WWE.

5. I also loved that Shibata came in and immediately decked KENTA. He was NOT there to talk or reason with him. He knew what was up and decided KENTA had to get these hands.
