Is this Yuya telling us he’s no longer under contract with NJPW (but will be taking booking dates with them) or is he just having a dig?

  1. No. He’s on excursion. When a Young Lion is sent to a different country, they are working for that wrestling company. When he’s done and graduates, he’ll come back to New Japan .

  2. He’s still on both the English and Japanese roster pages; and while historically those haven’t always been accurate, when Karl left a few months ago he was gone from them within a few days of his contract expiring. Also the official NJPW accounts have RTed some of Yuya’s tweets since he “left,” he was mentioned in the Shibata [interview](https://www.njpw1972.com/136899) last week (which was conducted on 10/26, a few days after Yuya’s first “Bye Bye New Japan” tweet), and was training at the [LA Dojo](https://twitter.com/thereal_rayjaz/status/1591594634547187712) just a couple weeks ago.

The only big piece of evidence I see that points to him no longer being signed to NJPW is that he didn’t get a birthday video on the [YouTube channel](https://youtube.com/@NJPWWorldOfficial) (November 18th). But that could be them working the storyline of him being “gone.”

So I’d say that at the very most he left NJPW for IMPACT, but is still on good terms with them (thus the RT’s/mentions/still being able to use the Dojo). Though I lean towards thinking he’s just on excursion.

  3. you’re all getting worked. imo he’s just “roleplaying” being a full time Impact guy (which he is for now). Seems like some kind of method acting thing to me lol

  4. I read his reply as he’s under contract with njpw but wrestling for impact because njpw isn’t booking him.
