I’m trying to learning Japanese, right now I wouldn’t even say I’m at a basic level. I’ve seen people mention Genki and from what i understand it’s a book. I’ll get it but I’m also looking for some kind of audio learning as I spend 30-60mins a day walking. I’ve seen mixed reviews about Pimsleur for Japanese but it is on sale for Black Friday. Can anyone recommend it to me or another good audio lesson to learn with? Thanks 🙂

You should probably find somecway to sample the options. It’s very personal what works for you. I dislike Pimsleur’s “whole phrases” approach and prefer the “mix and match” of Michel Thomas. But many people thinkthe opposite.
i had started pimsleur japanese when they were on cassettes. it helped me as a tourist and while on business trips (ie, not a stupid tourist). later on, it helped me speed run through genki 1 and 2 via self study when i wanted to learn more japanese.
i like pimsleur because the phrases are generally consistent if you’re trying out other pimsleur languages.
