Hi everyone, I live in a 1K in Tokyo and on average my gas + water are ¥2000-4500 max. My electricity is normally ¥8000-9000. Since the summer however it’s been ¥15,000-¥22,000 and I can’t figure out why the price has spiked. I’ve lowered my energy consumption in every way possible, but it doesn’t seem to matter. I’m currently using Tepco, should I switch providers or is this normal?
EDIT: I want to add that online my Tepco bill is around ¥10,000, the normal price. The physical bills are twice as expensive. I’d ask if these were late fees but if you racked up ¥10,000 in late fees your electricity would be turned off months before it even got to that point no?

Mine too. 15000-21000. I just don’t have a choice but to pay lol
It could be prices, but it could be your aircon too. I haven’t noticed anything major, but twice in my life I’ve seen my bills spike due to inneficient air conditioners.
If you can access a detailed statement (possibly online) they should show you how much electricity was actually used each month, and how much you are paying for each kW-h. This way you can check if it may be some faulty appliance that is sucking energy or if it’s mostly due to big increases in kW-h cost.
Mine was ¥2280 last month, I haven’t used my air conditioner since the summer though.
