Cheapest way to send courier to UK?

Bought some clothes on NEXT online which I would like to return. They want me to send the goods to their UK address within 28 days with postage on my account. EMS charges are close to JPY 3650 on JPY 4200 worth of clothes. How to go about it? Any suggestions

  1. Generally Japan Post’s International ePacket are the best way to send small items internationally.

Not sure if it is currently available for UK destination though.

  2. Before pandemic you could send “small packet” for like 750 yen, now it’s 3000 for a tiny box.
Unless you can find someone travelling to UK and be able to carry it for you.

You won’t find any option considered cheap now.

  3. My wife had the exact same problem. She bought some slippers from NEXT which didn’t fit. It would’ve cost more to send them back than they cost in the first place.

She ended up selling them on Mercari for the same price she paid for them, then she just bought the slippers again in a different size.

  4. Last week I paid 9800yen for a 3.1kg package full of kakapi, curry cubes boxes, instant miso soup, green tea and other loose tea, this was ems from Japan to uk . No idea why but my mum loves kakipi. Ems used to be a lot cheaper before corona I swear . My package arrived just now even though I sent it last Tuesday, super fast delivery.
