I need help not judgement. My friends and I decided to make some stickers for our JDM cars, we wanted it to say “car enthusiasts” or “car lover” in Japanese. I’ve put it in google translate and it came out as this “Kuruma-suki or 車好き”. When I reverse translate to verify it says “I like cars”. What would be the proper way to say it? Am I overthinking?

You came to the wrong place, buddy.
…No, seriously, what you’re looking for is r/translator.
At any rate, yes, 車好き is the closest, but know that it just means ‘likes cars.’ As in, I would be perfectly fine being called 車好き, but I would feel odd being called an enthusiast. Hell, I don’t even drive one at the minute. But there’s not really an equivalent phrase that I can think of off the top of my head in Japanese.
Also, side note on pronunciation, I forget the name of the rule, but the ‘s’ would most likely get voiced here, so the actual pronunciation would be ‘kuruma-***z***uki’
I’d go with 車びいき or something similar
Maybe 車夢中
カーオタク
Thought of another
カーマニア
