Passive Learning tools.

Hey folks, I’m picking up the language pretty freshly, and I’ve made decent progress in the last week or so learning a good chunk of the syllibary. I like to learn it, but I also was wondering if it’s a good move to find some media I can listen to while working, something adjacent to like “Dora for Japanese”, or just really really easy listening to get supplemental material, even if it’s literally meant for children. Is it jumping the gun to want to learn how to speak before fully knowing the script? If not, are there any absolute beginner sources to listen to during my day to day?

  1. If you want to do some beginner listening you can try a youtube channel called “comprehensible Japanese”

I feel like most people learn kana as a first step before anything. The reason is, it only takes a few hours to learn it and it has really high return-on-investment. But you could listen to that channel and it doesn’t matter if you know kana.
