Hi, I might be about to receive some money left to me by my late mother. I’m a UK citizen living in Japan on a spouse visa and I was wondering if anybody has had some experience with UK/Japan inheritance tax . Will I have to pay it both here and in the UK?

I am a UK national and I received an inheritance while living in Japan. I didn’t have to pay any tax in Japan. However, depending on the age of your late mother you may have to pay taxes. If she passed when she was under 70, it might be tax-free.
