are there any general rules on when something like 所 in 場所 is read as “jo” vs “sho”? like, in particular, if it comes after a ‘n’ sound like in 洗面所. is that just a coincidence that it’s voiced and read as jo or something that happens consistently?
edit: as another example, the 時 in 腕時計 is read as “do” where by itself, the 時計 part would be read as “tokei”. is that something that stems from the syllable before it being voiced or just another coincidence?
When someone asks “元気ですか？” and I respond “元気”, how would I ask it back? Or is it something even asked back, feels weird to have someone ask if I’m doing well, say yes, then not ask back.
In this N5 sample question: “watashi no uchi no hondana wa, kyonen chichi (GA) tsukurimashita.” Why is the answer “GA” instead of “WO” in the parenthesis? thx

What’s the pitch accent pattern for 経ち here? And the ます stem of verbs being used in this connective way in general? Does it differ depending on the verb’s original pitch accent pattern?
