Shipping a tansu chest-of-drawers to California

Hi all, my wife’s family are letting go of their apartment in Sapporo. We’re here now in Sapporo helping them figure out what to take and what to let go of. There’s a tansu chest-of-drawers that’s been in the family of a very long time (it was my wife’s great grandmother’s). We would love to get it to the states to have to properly restored and remain in the family.
We’re trying to find the best way to go to get it shipped there. Wondering if anyone has ideas or experience doing this?
We’ve tried Black Cat (Kuroneko) but they seemed unable to do one item, only entire households, and another company, Jluggage can only ship from Tokyo.
Any help and ideas would be deeply appreciated!
Thank you!

  1. Ok, DHL will almost certainly do it, but draw a breath and/or おしっこをする before you look at the price.

  2. What are the dimensions?

Door to door (DHL, TNT ect) will do the job but are massively expensive.

Shipping LCL is cost effective, as long as items fit into standard box sizes provided by the company. This will not.

Anything over standard box sizes must be palletised & packed for shipping. This increases price as you must book enough CBM to safely accommodate the goods.

Get quotes from the companies below. If the cheapest does not fit to budget your not going to find a cheaper option.

Move japan will most likely come in with lowest rate. I can personally attest to Ecomovejapan and Yamatane having shipped to and from Japan with them. I’ve also sneakily used them for commercial loads. Excellent service and price.
