Any recommendations for easy approaches to learning kanji? I’m heading to live in Japan in 5 months and I want a general knowledge of kanji before then any text book or suggestions for that (other then wanikani)
Although stroke order is important the easiest way to remember kanji is to realize kanji are built from other kanji so once you get that it’s easier to remember them. For example, 話 (talk) is made up of 言 (say, word) and 舌 (tongue) so if I remembered in need to say words with my tongue to talk I can remember 3 kanji in one sentence.
If you have 0 knowledge of kanji, figure out if you learn better by memorizing vocab or by individual kanji meanings. If brand new, start with a textbook. It will help you with the fundamentals. If you know a few start reading manga and make flash cards of vocab you don’t know.
