Vaccinated but no receipts

I got vaccinated at my previous company 3 times. They handled all the paperwork, so they also received the vaccine passport, with all my receipts. This was submitted to our health insurance guys. When I left the company, I didn’t get these back and despite contacting them for months, they either ignore me or pretend like this is the first time I’ve inquired about it. I’m not sure what to do, as I’m going abroad December 22nd.

  1. If you’re vaccinated in Japan, you can simply inquiry a vaccination certificate at your town hall, since they hold all the records.

Another variant is to use 接種証明 app, but it requires using mynumber.

  2. Are you sure they got your vaccine passport or just the documents proving you got your shots? Since the vaccine passport needs to be applied for at your city and it seems strange that a company would do that for you. Either way, check your city’s website regarding the vaccine passport, usually if you don’t have your paperwork you should be able to give them the dates and places of your vaccinations and they should verify and get the necessary data for you. It will most likely take longer than a regular application so you should do this sooner rather than later.
If you have a mynumber card you can also get the passport at a conbini but since I don’t have one I’m unsure of the requirements, in that case you should check your city’s website as well.

  3. It might depend on where you’re going and if they accept the app version, but try the official 接種証明書 app? It has a barcode authorities in other countries can scan.

As far as I remember the only thing you need to download your vaccine history to the app is your My Number card and passport.

(Though anyone reading this who doesn’t remember it this way, feel free to correct me!)

Kind of ブラック企業-ish of your employer to hoard your vaccination receipts like that… it’s the first I’ve heard of an employer doing so. I was given mine to keep.

EDIT: At least I assume you’re talking about your vaccination receipts? The vaccination passport is something you need to apply for to get issued yourself, it doesn’t come as part of the vaccination process (which may be why your employer seems confused when you ask them about this). Still, odd that your employer would keep the receipts.

  4. Was the actual vaccination done by the city? Like, you went to a location and city workers checked your paperwork/city doctor administered your vaccine?

If so, you can likely get a copy of your vaccine record at your city or ward office.

When I couldn’t find my paperwork from after having my vaccinations done, the city office was able to find my records and get me the proof I needed for traveling abroad.

  5. Do you have a my number card? This is very easy just download the 接種証明 app and you can get your 3-shot certificate. Using the app, you can use the QR code to get a printed certificate from the konbini.

  6. They probably lost them hahahahah

My company lost my contract. First they just said it would arrive later (its a one year contract, 4th year now). Then they just blamed me, they said I was the one who lost it. Then just accepted it was them and apologized, but because I said Im planning to stay here for long they just expected me to wait for the new one.

One sunny day of January, 6 months later, they found it

  7. Are you sure you didn’t get a piece of paper back with the vaccine sticker on it? I got vaccinated through my company too but they gave me back that paper and used that to get my vaccine passport

  8. Just to be clear, what do you mean by receipts? Are you talking about the certificates that prove you got the vaccine? Are you talking about some sort of financial record of payment to someone for something?

The reason this confuses me is that you should have received the certificates from the healthcare institution that gave you the shots, and there would have been no reason for you to hand those certificates over to your company.
