Hi r/movingtojapan, I’m F, 28 and I’ve always wanted to move to Japan for a bit, and currently aiming for the JLPT N2 next year.
I currently have been offered the opportunity through my company to transfer to the Tokyo office (big American based media company).
My issue is I have Cystic Fibrosis and Diabetes, and whilst I’m extremely healthy, the former is not common in Japan and certain medication is not sold within the county (but not prohibited).
I currently (in the UK) have virtual appointments with my team every 4 months and receive my medication through the NHS.
My understanding is I that I can get a certificate to bring up to one years worth of medication with me. My problem would obviously be obtaining medication after this.
Before I throw out my dream of living there for a few years, I was wondering if anyone on here that happens to have any advice could help? Specifically regarding to importing medication or has any experience to a similar situation?
Many thanks! ☺️
