AC or space heaters? Electric or kerosene?

Temps are dipping this week. Just want to know what is everyone’s preference when it comes to not freeze to death.

  1. Used the AC. Also got a kotatsu. Fuck kerosene. There’s a reason other countries have outlawed them.

  2. Gas fan heater warms up a room faster than an AC unit, and does not dry the air. Also does not smell like a kerosene heater. Only problem is that you need to have a gas outlet to use one.

  3. I don’t like having extra stuff in the house. AC is more than enough paired with humidifier. If you want to save electricity, get Kotatsu or Electric carpet. Electric carpets will save you so much money.

I personally use electric carpet on my bed too because e-carpet can usually get hotter than e-blankets.

  4. Kerosene is generally a lot cheaper than AC or electric but you have to make sure the space you’re heating with it has some ventilation to allow fresh air in or it can be dangerous. Kerosine generally goes up and down with gasoline prices, so I’m not sure how cheap it actually will be this winter. Electric space heaters are probably the most expensive method of heating, especially if they don’t have a thermostat to control the heat. Otherwise, AC is probably the best choice if you don’t want the risk of kerosene or the surprise of an electricity bill dominated by an electric space heater.
