Can I be fired after resigning.

Handed my resignation to be effective on last day of February. I think they are going to try to fire me to get me out ASAP. Can they get away with this?

  1. If you have such a bad relationship with your company/management, why would you submit your resignation so early?

  2. Yes and no.

They can ask you to stop coming but they will have to pay your salary until the effective date of your resignation.

Firing you is already almost impossible in normal circumstances, firing you for quitting is retaliation and 100% illegal.

Contact the bureau of labor, they will guide you and tell you what to do if they fire you.

  3. If they fire you, now they’re gonna have to pay severance package, which I doubt they are willing to eat that cost. What they can do if make your work life miserable for your remaining days.

I would say let them fire you, then negotiate a beefy severance package.
