Photography Internship/Apprenticeship in Japan | Career Opportunities Through Sophia University

Hey!
I realize that this is a somewhat niche topic, but I was hoping that someone would be able to offer a little bit of information regarding it as it’s been pretty futile looking for info elsewhere.
I’m 17 in my freshman year of university and I just applied to Sophia University (the English FLA program, which I know many have negative feelings towards on Reddit, at least in my experience searching) a couple weeks ago after seeking advice on how I could get my feet there. Assuming I ‘m accepted, I hope to end up graduating and staying in Japan long term. My dream would be to work either in freelancing photography or in a photography studio; this post regards the latter. Is anyone able to give insight as to what means I could seek out a photography internship in Japan, especially Tokyo? Would a portfolio be required with interviews, application, etc.? I am very naive when it comes to the topic of internships, and job acquisition in general. I would appreciate any assistance and can elaborate more if needed!
My second question, still in the realm of job acquisition, I hope is much simpler to answer (at least in terms of an audience which could give insight). I was wondering what facilities Sophia University has in job finding assistance for its students. If anyone could offer their experience or thoughts towards that I would greatly appreciate it, as well!
I realize that my ambitions and questions may be far-fetched and are very future-oriented, as I haven’t been accepted nor have I graduated yet, but I don’t see the harm in thinking ahead as to the feasibility of my dreams and opportunities I may have. Thanks again for any help!
(Oh, and I do plan on applying to a JET program or another English-teaching program in Japan after graduating here in the United States in the case that I am not accepted, so my first question stands whether I am accepted or not)

If that’s your dream you need to do some more research on the visa process and/or the available visas.

    Start with our [visa wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/movingtojapan/wiki/visas/)

The tl;dr is that there really isn’t a visa available for a working photographer.

Internships are not really a thing here in Japan. The internships that do exist are almost exclusively in business and finance.

Your chances of finding a photography internship are almost as bad as your chances of getting a visa.
