Where can we see Christmas lights on homes in Japan?

Not talking about the special events like Illumination or where they light up zoos with lights. Those place people need to pay to get in.
I’m talking about public streets where people can walk down and see houses covered in Christmas lights.
Any suggestions for places to take a stroll or even just a drive?

  1. One of the best is the Miyagase Christmas Village – you don’t pay to get in but parking is a bit steep. But you can take the bus up from IIRC Atsugi. All you’ll pay for is food/drink/if you choose to take the little train.

  2. I have decorated lights full from roof to down floor from November. And I am the only to do so in this community 😂😂😂

  3. Usually a casual evening drive through a random inaka town yields a house or two with Christmas lights outside. Just don’t go too inaka, Christmas isn’t a Japanese tradition.

  4. U.S. military base houses usually go all out with Christmas lights, decorations etc

But they generally aren’t accessible to the public unless you have a friend willing to sponsor you on the base.

  5. My guess is somewhere with a lot of Americans, since that’s a typical American thing. Try Okinawa, or places with lots of US military.
