Noob question – what happens at A1 counter?

Hi everyone,

Just got my postcard asking me to come to immigration with the 4000 yen stamp at A1 counter. I know this likely means my visa was approved.

Last (and the only time) I went through this I had my spouse help me though everything. I’m going there tomorrow and I speak zero Japanese.

So my question is what’s the process after getting there? Do I just hand them my stuff at A1 and wait to get my new card? I’m shit out of luck if I need to talk to them.

I know how basic this is but any help is appreciated!

Thanks

  1. Go there, hand them your resident card, passport, filled out form where you put the revenue stamp and the post card. Then wait.

  2. They probably dealt with thousands like your case. No worry. BUT do yourself a favor and learn Japanese and kanji. Counting on your spouse means you’ll be under their full control. People can change dramatically.
