1. I’m not sure what’s going on grammatically with this sentence but I think I know what it’s saying:

   > 素早い上に力も強いモンスターだ。

   On top of being nimble, the monster is also strong.

   Context: It’s describing a monster who is very strong and fast.

   Anyway, just how this sentence is put together seems a little weird. How does だ relate to に in this one?

2. I’m thinking about maybe getting a tablet for reading Japanese books, but I know next to nothing about tablets, like what to look for and how to choose one for this purpose.

   Are purchases region-locked like video games are, i.e. should I buy one that’s sold in Japan, or would an American-bought tablet work just as well?

    

   Lastly, is there any standout brand/model/feature that’s especially nice (either in general, or specifically for reading books in Japanese)? Hoping to learn from others’ experiences here if I can 🙂

   Which one is grammatically correct? Would いい work better in place of 大丈夫?

5. The following is from the lyrics to the song Extra Magic Hour:

   バラバラだと 見えなかった景色が突然

   目の前に浮かんで 動き出すカンジ

   Why is バラバラだと used rather than バラバラに or perhaps バラバラの or maybe even バラバラと. In fact, would all of those have been acceptable in this sentence?

7. Would I use で or に when referencing a time period, like “in college, did you…?.”

   “大学で” or “大学に?”　

8. How are 失う and 負ける different?

9. I’m having trouble with これ/それ
   I keep mixing them up. Anyone have some clever mnemonic or something like that?
   I’ve been struggling for a month now and streight memorization isn’t cutting it.

10. anyone here who has watched the monogatari series in japanese? ive only just started with immersion but i really want to rewatch it in japanese so im setting that as my goal for now, how hard is it?
