Kindle Scribe / Remarkable for learning Japanese?

I take a weekly Japanese class, and write my notes in a notebook. I have messy writing in English (being left handed is my excuse), but my Japanese is much better.

I’m thinking about getting an e-ink tablet like the new Kindle Scribe or a ReMarkable, so I can better organise my written notes, and can practice writing in Japanese without going through tons of paper.

Does anyone have any experience using devices like this to support their Japanese learning? Any advice or recommendations?

  1. also consider a laptop if you have an old one lying around, it probably doesn’t need to be too modern just to take notes, and typing is a fast thing compared to drawing out letters

  2. Something less expensive to practice on would be a Boogie Blackboard. I use them for kanji writing practice or new grammar.

  3. I don’t have experience with Kindle Scribe or ReMarkable but I have a [Boox Nova 2](https://onyxboox.com/boox_nova2) (kinda old by now) and it works really well for handwriting (you can even take notes on books and manga). I don’t know what your price range is but the newer models look even better (some even have colors)

Disclaimer: I don’t do JP handwriting and I don’t use it for handwriting but I often take notes or sketches for diagrams and stuff and it works pretty well.

  4. Using an iPad with an apple pen and write on notes application like Goodnotes might be a more affordable option if you already own one.
