Disposal of batteries – Bic Camera refused to recycle mine!

I have a few Li-Ion mid-sized batteries, such as for a laptop, that I am trying to get rid of properly. I brought them to Bic Camera and they refused to take them because they don’t have a “recycling label” on them indicated anywhere. For what it’s worth, the batteries are from devices that originate outside of Japan.

What are my options? How the fuck do I get rid of this shit in a responsible way? Thanks for any advice.

  1. Maybe try a smaller store, like the electronics section in a Yokado.

They took my dodgy imported powerbank without even looking at it.

  2. me and everyone at my neighbor just drop batteries at the trash place. They know what to do with it.

  3. The city where I live has a municipal recycling center where you can dispose of batteries and just about anything else. Maybe check and see if yours does, too.

  4. Have a lot of places stopped accepting battery recycling?

I have seen bags of spent batteries at a train station *more than once* lately, as if someone tried to recycle them, couldn’t find a place that would take them, and finally just said “they’re your problem now, Tokyo metro!”

  5. Had an expanding psp battery that I wanted to get rid of.. big stores said no but the little local shop took it no issue.
