Japan births at new low as population shrinks and ages | Japan’s top government spokesperson said Monday that the number of babies born this year is below last year’s record low

1. It is astonishing to think that Japan’s population is declining at a rate of around 700,000 per year. To put it in context it is like losing, population wise, a city the size of around Denver, Boston, Las Vegas, or Portland.

   The reason for a low birth rate is fairly obvious, the solutions also but it seems to not be a priority.
