Paypay is limited to the Japanese app store. I could download an APK file of the app but since it would be tied to my credit card I would want a safe app.
Could I make a Japanese Google play, download the app, switch back to US store and it will work?
I’m aware some online Japanese sites don’t take foreign cards, would a state side card work on Paypay?

Make a new google account with your region set to Japan. Its very easy to switch them from inside the play store app. Download paypay. Use it as usual. Switch back to your original country account if you want to get something that’s not available in Japan. You can have many (probably unlimited) accounts per one device.
The app will continue working and continue updating, as usual. Just keep both accounts on the phone.
