##Background
I have been self-studying Japanese for a couple of years, completing Genki I/II, some of tobira, and I read 11 paperback books (not too complicated of books). And while it’s kind of ridiculous to post anki stats, it feels crazy to say that somehow I have hand-made over 6.5k notes which turn into 10k cards.
Most of my study has been on reading so far but I do some listening too.
Recently, just to try it I guess, I did some iTalki lessons which focused on speaking. So far I completed 2 lessons, so not that much. I would say they’re fun but they are somewhat expensive compared to regular self-study.
##Questions
**Q1:** What do you think of this approach?
**Q2:** Is there a more economical and yet still effective way? (I can’t move to Japan RN, though)
**Q3:** Is it more efficient to work on writing output first and get to talking later?
Final Note: I decided to use the top-level forum rather than the daily question thread, because this is fairly open-ended.
