Next Step After Hiragana and Katakana

I just finished memorizing hiragana and katakana. What would be the next step? Start memorizing kanji? Learn grammar? Do recommend what you think is the best. Thanks!

  1. Following a grammar guide will introduce you to essential vocabulary and by extension kanji. After you get the ball rolling you can start reading simple material or doing focused grammar, vocab or kanji study. Which ever one you find most enjoyable.

  2. Crack open that Anki and get the free premade N5 and N4 flashcard decks, even N3 is free now

  3. Grammar and vocabulary. Pick up or download Genki 1. Use apps like Drops/Duolingo out quarter.
