Getting a record player repaired

Hello all,

This is a bit of a niche question but I have a record player in need of repair.

It’s a project turntable, I contacted the Japan branch and they told me to contact the Marantz repair center. Looking at their google page, they have 2 1 star reviews. If I’m going to ship part of my record player somewhere in the country, I may as well ask around for better options. Does anyone have any experience with getting parts repaired?

I live in Nagano, the local shops told me they don’t do repairs.

  1. You could try contacting Disk Union? They sell turntables, but not sure about repairs. They might be able to give you a referral

  2. I wouldn’t trust Google reviews. People probably aren’t motivated to review a company’s repair service online unless they had a bad experience. So you might only be seeing the reviews of the few people who had a bad experience while everyone else who didn’t have any issues didn’t post anything.

  3. Try [Audio Station](http://www.audio-st.jp/index.html) or HiFi堂. I wouldn’t be too hopeful though as most places will only bother to repair vintage.
You’re probably going to have better luck with the Marantz centre.
    What’s wrong with it?
