Familly land donation (in foreign country); taxes in Japan?

my father (in France) decided to pre-donate his land to me (in Japan).

Everything is conform to French laws and taxes will be paid in France.

I read really contradictories information about what I should do in Japan and if taxes must also be paid on this donation here (no money is donated, only land).

Does anyone knows where I should look or who I should contact?

  1. /r/japanfinance will tell you legally what is required. It depends entirely on your tax status in Japan and if you are splitting the inheritance with others etc.

On a personal level, I would do everything in my power to avoid having to pay Japanese taxes. They can rack up very quickly when dealing with foreign real estate depending on the value.
